THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED TO PROFESSIONAL ICE SKATER AND PILOXING INSTRUCTOR CHERYL CATHCART :)
WE THANK CHERYL FOR ALL HER ASSISTANCE
SEPTEMBER 2017 AND WE HAD A QUICK Q&A SESSION WITH CHERYL :)
HERE IS THE COMPLETE INTERVIEW-----
1-What does your new venture in Geneva consist of?
Cheryl-Geneva is only short term. Switzerland is a very pretty country....but I should potentially be returning to UAE by end of the year! To be honest studying has been taking up a lot of my time over here, its challenging but interesting....so my day consists of drinking copious amounts of tea and much reading of researching :)
2-How long are you planning on being there for?
Cheryl-Ha, its clear I only skim read the questions as I've answered question 2 in the first question. Potentially November I will leave here.....if not it will be around February. I'm not a fan of these cold months approaching but it will be sad to leave early as I heard so many places freeze over in the mountains and they turn them into huge outdoor rinks!
3-What is the shopping like....as we know you love your retail therapy :)
Cheryl- Hmmmmm..... ok general shopping here is average if I'm honest - there is big price mark ups on everything, so for example H&M and Zara are just not worth it when I know I can order it online and send it to my mums house ;)
However, its very nice to be back in Europe, wandering the streets. The buildings are beautiful so walking down the street with the Luxury brands makes them even more appealing of course!!
4-Best bargain or fashion item you have got since being there?
Cheryl-Oooo, do you know the best ones I can think of is my boyfriend Martin's half price deals in Diesel!! I was so jealous
that day!!! Why are the mens sale always better than the womens sale!!!???!!!
5-What are you studying for at the minute?
Cheryl-I am studying a Masters in Strategic Marketing along side a Business Fashion course in order to potentially crack the Fashion ( or cosmetics) Marketing industry. I have actually just found another Fashion course I'd like to sit on the side too! I need to calm down a little and take it one step at a time, lol!
6-Have you any plans to get back into ice skating in any form?
Cheryl-I miss skating, skating is definitely a passion which taught me well, I plan on going back on the ice for myself soon but not for work. I need to really focus on moving forward if I want to crack this new industry!
7-What was the first thing you did when you hit the UK this time around?
Cheryl-........CHINESE FOOD & GIANT WHITE BUTTONS!!!!!!! both were equally amazing. I ate so much Chinese food my stomach hurt well on to the next day. Success!
8-What are your plans for the next few months?
Cheryl- Once I leave Geneva I would like to start looking at potential jobs in the Fashion world..... there is actually so many to choose from, I need to narrow it down and find some mentors! It all well studying but experience has to be the key!
I have a million goals..... I will definitely need to live until I'm 100 to reach them all! Aim high, Dream big they say! Cross your fingers for me :)

2017 AND CHERYL IS IN GENEVA SWITZERLAND STUDYING FOR HER MASTERS IN MARKETING.
Cheryl was in Abu Dhabi coaching so we thought it was the ideal time to conduct another interview 2016 :) Thanks Cheryl :)
What is your typical day?
Cheryl-Morning tea of course, gym, emails, teach through out the day and usual some group classes/ off ice / Pilates to finish the day at the rink and at the moment also learning their testing system....as its pretty different out Here!! Plus of course finding the beautiful beaches with a cocktail in hand in my spare time and they have some pretty large shopping malls out here ;)
What's your fave/least fave thing about being away from home?
Cheryl-As you know last year I spent a lot of time at home due to my injury....so I really really miss seeing my dog on a day to day basis and random Monday night catch ups with my friends. I also still cannot make a bed or iron - there is a lot to be said for my mother when I'm home or in a hotel! It is the strange the older I get the more attached to people and things I've become! #adulting
If you were a cocktail what you be?
Cheryl-Hopefully something everyone liked to drink!!! Haha
Cheryl with Colin Grafton at Hot Ice 2016
Of all your pet peeves which is the strangest?
Cheryl-Rude people.....
How do you handle people you don’t like?
Cheryl-Civilness and a smile..... As I'm sure you know I read a lot of quotes, and they say carrying negative baggage and hatred ends up holding a weight down on yourself, what use is that to anyone!!!
What was the last thing that you bought?
Cheryl-My last thing I bought was a white chocolate Starbucks ....or my last item....was a splurge in Victoria secret last weekend.
Is coaching all in your future?Or do you think skating in shows will feature again?
Cheryl-I'm very open minded at the moment, I am just looking to be challenged in life reaching goals and improving.....I have my plans for the future.... But who knows, what this space I say! ;)
How is Dubai?
Cheryl-It's Abu Dhabi I'm in for the moment.... But so far it's been fabulous - now it's actually hitting proper summer here and I'm starting to realise why people leave for the summer though!! Haha the heat practically slaps you in the face as you walk out the door! Otherwise lovely shops, bars and people!
What made you decide to move into coaching?
Cheryl-Well as I was over here for a contract in January and got a message once I came home enquiring if I was available to help the development of a club over here in Abu Dhabi..... It seemed like a perfect challenge ! I am currently just been given the position of the development manager and coach which is fun and challenging and of course different from my regular job!!!
How many children are you coaching?
Cheryl-I'd say around 25 -30 kids .... All mixed levels and abilities.
Is there anyone in particular we should keep an eye out for as a champion in the making?
Cheryl-I have a few little cuties out here....And the great thing is from this country many are expats so they can represent their own country in the long term which is pretty exciting!!!
We also train the an emirati lady whom is hoping to be the first covered lady in the olympics which is inspiring ladies sport in this country!
How long is the contract over there for?
Cheryl-I'm still under contract negotiations at moment....
What is your favourite thing about summer?
Cheryl-Sunshine brings everyone happy hormones so probably the sun itself!!!!
Except tea lol what else are you missing from the UK?
Cheryl-A wee Friday night in with a Chinese and some good uk television!!!
Between her ice skating contracts

After taking a break from the skating world Cheryl is currently off on her skating travels again. On the 21st November she started her journey to Mexico, where she has been a few times before,to perform in the show Pop Circus On Ice which features a live band during the routines.
And in Cheryls own words........this is what she is currently doing.......The show is called Pop Circus on Ice, it's a mixed pop show split into sections of Michael Jackson, Black eyed peas, Madonna and Ricki Martin! I have a duet to Black eyed peas but have also been skating to Madonnas "Holiday" solo and the "Vogue" pairs track due to some injuries and illnesses - so as you can imagine that's why I've been a busy lady!!! It's been fun having a different show each day though ;)
There is a TV screen on the back drop setting following us...I obviously kept getting caught making cheeky faces on it ..... I should behave more :) And after seeing her perform in Hot Ice we agree lol as she was always pulling funny faces :)
We are travelling between Tepic & Mexico City, a little different to how we usually set up in Mexico and it's weird having the sunshine in December. After 8years of travelling this is the first Christmas I will be spending in the sunshine, I can't decide how I feel about that one yet though considering I am obsessed with everything Christmas!! Haha
The show this year has fewer solos and more group numbers and it's pretty fast paced, and keeps us all awake!!
Honestly, it's been absolutely fantastic being back on the ice performing, I think I forget sometimes just how lucky I am to love my job! It's just a great feeling....performing,socialising, travelling. It also helps I have a really lovely cast members!
